Hi I'm Nathaly! My artistic process revolves around my intuition, thinking about what the surface is calling for and then working to find an answer. Each element added, is intentionally placed and considered. I have a passion for science that is clear in the way I combine my organic approach to art-making with my desire for experimentation and exploration. Much of my work is derived from investigating various materials, textures & mediums, making my work bold and dynamic. I am motivated to pursue versatility in my work, using my intuition and personality within every stroke of paint or pen mark. I have learned to embrace the imperfections as they come. Documenting my process of how I proceed with a work of art is valuable in my practice, it helps me expand my knowledge of who I am as an artist. I try to steer away from using traditional surfaces, such as paper and canvas, and find recycled and found objects to use as a base and incorporate them into my work. There is a layered quality to my work which creates 2D visual texture which adds an increased depth to all my work. I build layers through text transfers and various mark making techniques such that unique textures emerge. I am playing around with the idea of adding 3D elements to my pieces and expanding and breaking the borders of the surfaces.
